Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership

As many of you will no doubt know, on 1 June St Dunstan’s School joined the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership. This is the most significant development for the school and secondary education in Glastonbury since the school first opened its doors . . . over 50 years ago!

Students at St Dunstan’s are already in one of the highest performing schools in the area in terms of progress and the federation with the Midsomer Norton Schools’ Partnership will ensure its long-term future, growth and improvement. These are truly exciting times for St Dunstan’s. The Midsomer Norton Schools’ Partnership expect to invest £500,000 in the buildings alone as well as developing teaching and learning so that the education experienced by children is first-class.

Alun Williams – CEO and Executive Headteacher of the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership said:
‘I am tremendously excited about the work we have planned to revitalise St Dunstan’s. It’s a great school with a ‘can-do’ atmosphere, yet it has not been well-supported for many years. The MNSP now has 11 schools in total and 2 very high performing secondaries. The way the MNSP works and greater capacity afforded to schools that are within our group, will make a quick and significant impact at St Dunstan’s. I hope over time, all parents and children in the local community and St Dunstan’s catchment area will see just what a gem this school is.’

In September, the new Headteacher of St Dunstan’s, Mr Keith Howard, invited local parents and other stakeholders to visit the school and see the work that has already been undertaken to secure further improvement of the school. In the Summer Term 2016, both he and Mr Williams (CEO) visited primary schools to explain to parents the new arrangements for secondary education in the area.

The future certainly is bright and the children of Glastonbury and the surrounding area deserve a first-rate secondary school.
