Emergency Procedures for School Closure/Adverse Weather

The decision to close the school will be taken by the Headteacher in consultation with the Chair of Governors.

Such a decision will only be made if it is absolutely necessary to do so. Such a situation could arise, for example, as a result of insufficient numbers of staff being able to make their way to school, thus making children’s presence in school unsafe.

If adverse weather conditions or other circumstances arise which require the school to close, prior to the start of the school day, this will be communicated as soon as is possible in the following ways:

Radio Broadcasts
BBC Somerset Sound – 95.5FM, 1566MHz
Heart FM – 102.6FM, 97.1FM (Yeovil Area), 96.5FM (Taunton Area)
Breeze FM – 100.8FM, 102.4FM, or 107.4FM
Tone FM – 107.8FM (Taunton and surrounding areas)
Parents should not telephone the radio stations for information.

On the School Website: On the homepage at www.stdunstansschool.com

On our Facebook Page: New St Dunstan's School, Glastonbury | Facebook

On Somerset Learning Platform: https://slp.somerset.org.uk/

If we were forced to close during the day, we would inform parents by email or, for those who do not receive this service, by telephone. Everything reasonably possible would be done to ensure children’s safety and well-being.

If you do not receive information to the contrary, please assume that school will be open as usual.
